The Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE, established in 1984, is the largest provider of vocational education and training in North Queensland.  As a Registered Training Organization, the Institute delivers training to Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) standards outlined for training organizations operating within Australia.  The Institute is also certified under AS/NZS ISO9001:2008.

The Institute employs approximately 350 staff and provides training to over 14,700 clients annually.  The Institute, comprised of eight campuses, is a medium to large employer in North Queensland and adds significantly to the economic and social development of the region through education and training.  Currently under construction in Townsville is a state-of-the-art, custom-built $37 million Trade Training Centre, due for completion in 2010.

The Institute offers an extensive range of Certificate and Diploma training programs covering a number of disciplines which contribute to high quality service within the tourism industry.  We also offer a range of industry focused short courses including the nationally recognized Aussie Host  customer service based training program which provides essential training for those in the tourism sector.

North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation (NQBP) is a Government owned corporation charged with managing ports which are vital to the export and import performance of Queensland and Australia.
