Advocacy

Enterprise Whitsundays is the region’s economic development agency and part of its role is to advocate on behalf of business and industry.

Advocacy aims to influence public-policy and resource allocation decisions within the political, economic, and social systems and institutions that impact on the Whitsunday region.

Advocacy might include a campaign on behalf of small business, or an industry sector such as tourism, horticulture, sugar cane, retail or manufacturing. Or it might be a representation on behalf of a development or particular business.

Effective advocacy also includes the collection and dissemination of research and regional data.

Advocacy is different to lobbying in that lobbying is a direct approach to legislators in a particular issue. Enterprise Whitsunday can refer you to a professional lobbyist should you require it.
